December 30, 2008 Photo Reports: Protests against Gaza Massacre - Ottawa, Montreal Message from Canadian Arab President Khaled Mouammar to Independent Jewish Voices We greatly appreciate the strong participation of our friends from the Jewish community who have come out publicly to denounce Israel's massacres in Gaza. As Andy said at the Toronto rally, there were twice as many Jewish Canadians in the pro-Palestine rally as there were in the pro-Israel rally. Khaled Mouammar Redress Info - Israel’s lie machine working flat out to dodge “killer” question Stuart Littlewood shows how Israel’s public relations strategy frames and defines the situation in Israel’s own terms regardless of the truth and, using advanced propaganda skills and the elaborate Israel lobby network, it seeks to persuade Western politicians and media to accept Israel’s version of events. Elmasry - Zionist Israel's crimes are not new Zionism -- for those still confused by the relentless media “spin”
deliberately clouding the issue -- is a neo-fascist ideology based on
giving a “birthright”
guarantee to Jews anywhere on the planet to settle in Palestine....
Zionists have resorted to any means available to implement this December 29, 2008 ACTION ALERT - Israeli Air Attack on Gaza Today, the Israeli Air Force attacks on the occupied Gaza killed more than 200 people and injured hundreds more. These lethal attacks on an overcrowded Gaza come after months of a brutal siege that has seen the civilian population of Gaza deprived of food, fuel, medicine, electricity, and other necessities of life. Israel's bombing of Gaza today would not have happened without the complacent and complicit silence of the international community. Any just solution has to be anchored in international, humanitarian and human rights law. Therefore, we need to take action to protest these attacks and demand that our government call for * an immediate cease-fire, TAKE ACTION - Background, addresses, Minister's statement INDEPENDENT JEWISH VOICES CONDEMNS ISRAEL'S GAZA MASSACRE Independent Jewish Voices (Canada) condemns this murderous escalation of violence by the Israeli government. Diana Ralph, IJV Coordinator calls this assault "completely disproportionate to the unsupportable firing of Qassam rockets by Hamas fighters which killed one Israeli. It's important to put this into the context of the deadly siege of Gaza by the Israeli forces, which continued in violation of the terms of the recent six month truce between Israel and Gaza. In the ethics of violent conflicts, it is the responsibility of the force wielding power - the Israeli government in this case - to create the conditions for a just peace."
December 23, 2008 Vancouver -- A campaign to defend free speech pushed media giant Canwest to drop its legal suit against Mordecai Briemberg over a parody of The Vancouver Sun. As one battle ends another opens..... Radio Canada Ombudsman caves to calls for censorship On October 23, 2008 Radio Canada’s “Les Grands Reportages” aired Peace, Propaganda and the Promised Land. This is an excellent documentary which exposes the disconnect between what is taking place on the ground in Palestine and the American media's reporting of these events. It can be viewed on google videos. A systematic pressure campaign was organized against Radio-Canada for airing this documentary and resulted in an investigation by the Ombudsman. In her report, it is clear that the Ombudsman has adopted all the pro-occupation arguments of the complainants. She comes to the conclusion that the documentary should never have been aired. Read Radio-Canada Ombudsman's report.
December 7, 2008 Activist report from Israel-Palestine: Resilience There is so much racism here it blows my mind. "Your going to (Palestinian) East Jerusalem?!" asked the Jewish lady from Jerusalem noticeably concerned about my safety. "Well, be careful!" "They just don't care about human life like we do" she continued. "Why were you in Jayyous?" asked the young Israeli soldier while I was detained behind the Wall last week. "Don't you know they're all terrorists?" Switzerland has accused Israel of wantonly destroying Palestinian homes in East Jerusalem and near Ramallah in violation of the Geneva Conventions' rules on military occupation. The Swiss Foreign Ministry demanded that Israel immediately halt the demolitions. AP - Foreign press issues plea to reopen Gaza crossing TEL AVIV, Israel: The Israeli government has offered no plausible explanation for its unprecedented ban on international journalists entering the Gaza Strip, representatives of the foreign media said at a news conference Thursday. With the ban entering its fourth week, appeals to the Israeli government from foreign governments, the United Nations and the leaders of major news organizations have gone unanswered, the journalists said. [It is pretty obvious why the Israeli government cannot offer an explanation for shutting journalists out of Gaza - the explanation is that they are covering up the starvation that they have created there by shutting Gaza off from commerce, international aid and by destroying ancient olive groves, orchards and other crops.] |
